officially texans

We can officially call ourselves Texans now that we have attended the Great State Fair of Texas!  I have been super curious about it since we lived in Texas from 2007 to 2009, but for some reason we never attended.  We ended up just going in the evening, which was a good choice because it was still super hot (I can't imagine what it felt like during the DAY!), and also because admission was half price after 5 pm.  That's a win in my book!  We got there just in time to enjoy the marching band (Brooke's new favorite thing) and parade.  We bought dinner, which was good, but not super amazing.  We didn't really order "fair food", which is probably where we went wrong.  We didn't even eat anything deep-fried!
We watched the fireworks and a laser light show, which Brooke absolutely loved.  Ever since the fourth of July, she talks about fireworks a lot and wants to watch the video clips on our phones from that evening. And what outing is complete without a delicious (and super messy) ice cream cone?
As we left the fairgrounds,  we took our picture with Big Tex.  The picture is on Kevin's phone, so I need to remember to get that from him.  Added to my mental list :)
