ringing in the new year

Our friends, Mike and Megan Mansfield, invited us over to ring in the New Year with them!  The Taggarts were also invited, which added to the fun.  We headed over about 7 o'clock, and I told Kevin that we would probably stay until about 10.  By 10 o'clock, we were still playing games and having fun :) Their baby Everly was asleep, but little Gracie was having a blast hanging out with the "big kids".  About 10:30, we headed outside for some fireworks and poppers.  Gracie was both nervous and excited about all of them, so it was pretty cute to watch. The kids picked right back up where they left off, which kind of shocked me considering the time.  

We had dessert, and about 11:15 we decided to do a faux ball-drop.  Mike pulled up an old YouTube video from last year, we counted down, the kids blew their party horns like crazy, we had a sparkling cider toast, and then we partied like it was 2020!!

It really is kind of crazy to think that it's actually 2020.  I remember doing projects in elementary school about what life would be like in the year 2020, and it seemed like we'd have flying cars by then, haha.  We're not quite there with flying cars, but we do have electric cars and cars that park themselves, so there's that :)

We left just before midnight, and although we had a blast with friends, I think we were all excited to go home and crawl into our own beds. Happy New Year!!
