waco weekend

Our second annual Waco Weekend was a total success!!  We went with the Hawkins this year and we all loved it :) On the way down, we made a stop at the infamous Czech Stop Bakery.  It wasn't nearly as great as I thought it would be, but still made for a fun stop.
We arrived a little before the Hawkins, so we took a few laps around the lazy river.
It was much busier than when we went last year, and it was super hot, but we all loved playing miniature golf together, riding the slides, floating around the lazy river, and eating lunch together.
Colby thought he was big stuff playing tetherball with Ellie.
Marlie Jo, Carter, and Brooke.
Marlie Jo made a hole in one and had the cutest reaction, so of course I asked for a reenactment.
Joanna and I were twinning in our suits :) I love hanging out with her and am so grateful for all the time spent together during the Spring and Summer months when things were kind of on lock-down. I never felt lonely because we had each other.
We booked rooms at the same hotel, so after grabbing dinner at Chipotle, we headed to the patio area for some s'mores.  Except that the fire pit wasn't working, which was totally frustrating because Kevin specifically booked at this place because of the fire pit and he even confirmed that we could use it. But, we improvised and used the outdoor grill.  It was so blazing hot that the chocolate bars were totally melting before we even placed them on the graham crackers, but hey, at least I brought along some baby wipes, haha.

The kids entertained themselves with this giant jenga set while the adults (and Ellie) chatted.
The next day, we walked around the Branding the Brazos statues before walking down to the Waco Suspension Bridge. Kevin wasn't sold on the idea because it was ridiculously hot outside, but it seemed like a great thing to do on a Sunday and the kids were just happy to still be hanging out with the Hawkins :)
It is the oldest bridge of its kind in Texas, and was built in 1870.  Cool fact: The cables for the bridge were supplied by the same company that built the Brooklyn Bridge. It was super cool, but we were all ready to head back to the air conditioning in the car!
As you can see, Colby is a big fan of Ellie.  Probably because she is totally sweet to him and always pays attention to him.
I guarantee that our kids will want to do our Waco Weekend with them again next year, which is totally fine by me :)
