tail end of summer

I just love summer so much and I love the time we spent in the sun! We attempted fishing again, but this time with minnows as bait.  Spoiler alert, it was an epic fail! But we sure had fun trying :)
I adore this father/son picture. Kevin is so patient with the kids and it's nice to let him take over for a while.
Brooke lost interest before Colby, so we played games together in the boat.
Then it was time for some wake boarding! Colby has always wanted Kevin out there floating with him, but Kevin asked if he could go on his own and he said YES!  I was pretty surprised, but he did an awesome job.
Kevin sat on the back of the boat and was cheering him on the whole time. I was busy driving the boat, but had to take a picture of Kevin throwing up the "OK" sign, which has kind of become their thing.
He's such a big boy and we were all proud of him!
Boat snuggles are the best!
We loved our pool time this summer, and were especially grateful that the Hawkins live right by us since we weren't allowed to invite friends to the pool this summer thanks to COVID.  (They also had "safety breaks" every hour where the lifeguard would wipe down the handrails, bathrooms, and drinking fountains .) It seemed kind of silly at the pool, but we just used that time for snacks.
We watched Kevin play softball...
Spent lots of time at Hawaiian falls, which thankfully was open with minimal changes...
Went to a pool date with Brooks Taggart...
Spent our Fridays at Joe Pool Lake with friends...
The Danielsons even brought their jet ski a few times and invited the kids to go for a ride.  I was super nervous about letting them go, and was surprised that they wanted to go without me, but it all went well and I was proud of them for their independence.
Took Brooke on a girl date while Kevin took Colby to a BOYS ONLY end-of-summer backyard pool party...
Spent lots of time boating with family...
More time at the pool, which was pretty empty most days...
Spent time doing science and playing barbies...

More time at the lake, but this time just the four of us...
It was a great summer, full of memories and quality family time :) After all the restrictions from the Spring, it felt nice to have a bit of normalcy to our summer routine.
