We had an impromptu visit to Grandma and Papa's house today, and the kids had their first lesson in milkshake making :) This milkshake machine has quite the history, and Papa enjoyed telling Brooke and Colby all about it. His dad, Bob, had a favorite coffee shop near their home in California. He frequented the shop often for milkshakes, so when the shop closed its' doors, they gifted the machine to Bob. He had it for years, but when the motor died, he threw it out. Jerry and Bev happened to see it in their discard pile and asked if they could take it home to try to salvage. Jerry had a lot of memories with that milkshake machine, as did his siblings. It stayed in their attic for years until Bev took it to a repair shop to get it fixed up for Jerry's birthday. It's been running like a champ ever since :) Kevin has a lot of memories making milkshakes with friends, and Jerry has his Sunday school kids over for milkshake parties all the time. Teenagers and ice cream are a great combination.
I enjoyed hearing the story again, especially since the kids were listening to every word! And they enjoyed a delicious milkshake at the end, so what's not to love?
The whole experience reminded me of Bob (Grandpa GG), especially because of how much he loved Hershey's chocolate syrup!
