california-day 5

The day started out slow, which was exactly what we apparently needed, haha!
We headed to a nearby park near the train depot, but we didn't last long because it was really hot and the kids kept getting burned on the slides.
Then we ventured over to the Nob Hill trail to find a mountain slide Mom's friend told her about.  It was a steep walk up, and the slide was nothing like what we imagined, but now we know :)
It was basically two segments of slide, but it wasn't really fast or all that exciting.  But we still got a kick out of the adults going down them :)
And the exercise stations along the trail provided some entertainment for the kids.
We went to the neighborhood pool that afternoon, and the water was refreshingly cold.  I have countless childhood memories at this pool, so it was fun to create more memories with Brooke and Colby.
The kids were intrigued with the spa because most Texas pools don't have one!  But they quickly learned that it's hard to get back into the "cold pool" after you've been in the spa.
The whole trip was nostalgic for me since this is where I grew up, but just walking down the street towards the house filled me with gratitude for such a beautiful childhood.  So many pool dates, riding bikes with friends, playing street hockey, playing dolls and barbies on our front lawn, playing kick-the-can and sardines with neighborhood kids, etc.  I really was such a lucky kid!
We introduced the kids to The Game of Life, along with several other childhood favorites.  All in all, it was another great day.
