I took these cuties to see Santa the day after school got out and I couldn't believe how big they looked. I'm feeling very sentimental this Christmas since we decided to tell Brooke that Santa wasn't real and I am just wishing that time would slow down. I don't want them to grow up too quickly, but we also didn't want Brooke to find herself in a situation where she was embarrassed because she didn't know things that other kids knew. She was REALLY sad when we told her and said, "I really thought it was all true!" Kevin joked that I was just too good at the magic of it all, but really I wanted her childhood to feel magical, but also to know what was real and what wasn't. But she was a great sport about keeping the magic alive for Colby and humoring me with a trip to the Bass Pro Shop.
They always love to build with the Lincoln Logs...
Before walking over to Santa, Brooke asked if she had to sit on his lap. I assured her that she most definitely didn't need to sit on his lap.
He asked them all about what they wanted and Colby asked for an electric scooter and Brooke asked for a L'ange hair straightening tool.
They wrote their letters to the North Pole and placed them in the cute mail box...
You know you're at the Bass Pro shop when they have duck hunting, 4-wheelers, and taxidermied animals...
I ended up buying the pics since I'm not sure how many more years we will continue with this tradition. Colby asks way more questions that Brooke ever did and I honestly think he knows that Santa isn't real...but we will continue to do this until he confirms my suspicions.
