Since everyone has late church, we decided to do our family Easter celebration on Saturday. We had been talking about "the hunt" for days, and Brooke was super excited. She even let me do a fun hairstyle :) She originally requested one braid "on the side", like a girl in her Easter book. As I was braiding, I just wrapped it around her head so it would stay in for the whole day. I pitched it to her as a "crown", and she was sold.
Colby took a nice nap on the drive up, and slept for a while even once we arrived at the house. That's saying something because the girls were all being super loud. We were about to start the hunt, and Auntie Mel Mel felt bad that Colby would miss it. I wasn't too worried since he wouldn't know what was going on anyways, and then we saw his foot move in his car seat. Of course the girls rushed over to check on him, and then he was awake!
Kevin, Jeff, and Nick and Sara (Jerry's co-worker and her husband who joined our celebration) hid all the eggs, while I took some group shots of the girls. I love these sweet cousins.
And then they were off! Brooke kept shouting "score" after finding each egg. It was hysterical. A few eggs popped open as she dropped them into her bucket, and she saw that some eggs had little fairies and ponies inside. She was in heaven, then tried opening each egg as she found it.
She even found the golden egg again this year, which had a fresh dollar bill inside. Auntie Mel Mel is the best :)After the hunt, we feasted on Jerry's famous tri-tip, along with salad, steamed veggies, asparagus, baked potatoes, and garlic bread. It was such an enjoyable afternoon. The girls played well together, Colby was happy as a clam, and I was able to relax.
