impetigo

These are by far the ugliest pictures I have ever taken of myself, but this needs to be documented!  On June 5th, I noticed a few blemish-looking sores in my eyebrow.  I've had blemishes there before, so I didn't think much of it, except that they were pussier than usual.  A few days later, I noticed several more around my eye area and down on to my cheek.
I was frustrated about it, but didn't think much of it until the next day when it was down the entire side of my face!  Kevin made a comment about it looking like chicken pox and I immediately realized that it was probably shingles.  Of course, I started doing research online and it seems likely since it was mostly on one side of my face, which is a hallmark of shingles.
The next morning, I made an appointment at Urgent Care.  The nurse practitioner said something about it maybe being impetigo (which I had never heard of), but upon further inspection, agreed that it was shingles.  She ordered a prescription for me, and I started it right away.
That night, all the little sores were so angry and looked terrible. They were also starting to pop up on both sides of my face, which made me question the shingles diagnosis.
The next morning, all the scabs were super crusty and I also had sores near my eyes...
I figured I needed to give the medicine more time to work, but the next morning I woke up to my eye nearly crusted shut, so I called the dermatologist and asked for an appointment. As soon as she saw me, she commented that it was classic impetigo.
She prescribed an antibiotic, and within a few days, the sores started to heal and the amber-colored crust dried out.  Overall, I dealt with this for like 10 days!  It was super embarrassing and definitely put me out of my comfort zone to attend church, a baby shower, and Brooke's birthday party without any makeup on.  I felt like I had some form of leprosy, but I am SO thankful that nobody else in my family got it because it's highly contagious!

I hope I never have to deal with this again, but at least I would recognize it for what it is!!
