rangers-spring season

First game of the season for Colby!!  My favorite moment was when Kevin predicted that the batter would hit the ball to Colby at short-stop.  It immediately happened and I caught his amazing throw to first.  It happened a few times in a row, which was pretty cool to watch.
Their next game ended with a 16-11 victory!  Their second game that week was the complete opposite and their third game was rained out, so you can't win them all, haha.
You don't get better than Spring baseball in Texas!  It was the perfect night to watch these boys play.
My blue-toothed Colby (thanks, Big League Chew) was given a game ball on Tuesday night's game.  After playing pickle with the runner trying to go from first to second, he got the kid out just before he touched first.  He also caught a pop-fly, so he was on fire!
They had another game that week, but this time at 6 PM, which meant that the sun was right in their eyes.
The game was SO intense, and although we ended up losing by two, the boys played so well!  One of our boys was injured when a fly ball hit him in the head, and while our boys checked on their teammate, the other coaches sent their player around all the bases for a home run.  It WAS a great hit, but I couldn't believe that they didn't stop the game.  Our parents were livid and a few words were said, so it felt really good to make a huge comeback in our last inning.
We had a tough loss one night with some pretty bad calls from the umpire, but the boys are improving so much in their fielding and overall awareness of where they should throw the ball, etc.  And they're having fun, which is super important.
Thursday's game was another loss for the Rangers, but there were lots of great plays and good hits.  Moving up to AA has been an adjustment, but the boys are all having fun and progressing.
It was a beautiful night for baseball, but a tough loss for the Rangers.  The beginning of the game was a little rough and the boys weren't batting well, but they had so many great plays and are continuing to improve throughout the season.
I always have a ton of videos to go through at the end of the game, but since I didn't take many pics, I need to document that Colby hit a double that night :)

A few weeks later, Colby had a Wednesday night game and I couldn't stay the whole time since I was in charge of Activity Days. Kevin did a great job taking over the documentation, which I was grateful for since I don't like missing anything.  Go, Rangers!!
Colby had his last baseball game of the season on Monday night and it was an exciting one!!  I was keeping the books (which is stressful to me), but Brooke was my helper.  A sweet friend took a few pictures to document.  We were also in our matching Rangers shirts, so that was kind of fun.
I don't think Colby realized that the game all hinged on him when he got up to bat. Kevin sent the video to family with this recap:  Last at bat as visiting team, two outs, with two strikes and Colby was down to his last pitch.  He fouled it off, got another pitch, and sent it to the fence for a 3 run inside the park homer to tie up the game!!

The ump ended the game five minutes later when time expired...he said the other team won by one run even though both score keepers had a tie score.  That made absolutely no sense, but nobody challenged it so we were done.

Needless to say, the last game of the season was an exciting one!!
Brooke and Hattie (Hudson, AKA Maverick's sister)...
We took a mom picture before the game started, then took another one mid-game because the sky was showing off.

Back: Diane (Crawford's mom), Laura (Mav's mom)
Front: Me, Melanie (Braydon's mom), Brittany (Mason and Austin's mom), and Jamie (Patrick's mom)
Last team huddle of the season...
We love Coach Brett!  He is always so encouraging, fun with the boys, and constantly helping them improve.
It's fun to watch these two share their love of the sport...
Oh, and I made bags of cookies for all the coaches and dads that helped out all season.
We're already looking forward to next season!!
