Brooke wanted to play soccer again this season, so we signed her up with her same team (Purple Bears) at Mansfield Soccer Association. Coach Maria and her husband Clay have been the coaches for the last few years and Brooke likes a lot of the girls on the team. They started practicing over at the Skinner Sports Complex in early Spring. Lucky for us, it's only 5-7 minutes from our house.
Their first game was nearly cancelled because of the rain, but my girl scored a goal (that shockingly went past the goalie) and had a few more solid attempts!!
I had been in California all week to help after mom's surgery, but I was grateful that I didn't miss Brooke's soccer game. I love watching my kids do their thing...
Brooke wasn't excited about soccer practice because her teeth were hurting from a morning orthodontist appointment...but she rocked it and her coach told her that if there was an award for star player at practice, she would've earned it. She was excited to tell me, so I quickly took a picture to remember the moment. Brooke has an amazing attitude and I love when coaches recognize that as well. I'm guessing it's more apparent when several of the girls on the team are big complainers.
One week we were missing quite a few players, so Brooke played the ENTIRE game! They lost, but I was super proud of their unyielding determination and grit.
It was also crazy windy, hence the hair in her face.
Brookie played goalie for the first time on Saturday and did so well! Nobody on her team wants to own that position, so they've all had to take a turn and I was so proud of her. She had several awesome saves, great throws, and was quick to the ball. It's not easy going out of your comfort zone, but my girl rocked it!!
Brooke had an awesome game and ran her little heart out! The Bears won 7-1, so they were all super happy. I can't believe that there's only one game left in the season!
Last soccer game of the season and Brooke played goalie for the first half. The other team had a LOT of shots on goal, and although several of them made it past her, she also had some great saves!
It was also in the 90's with no breeze, so we were all a little bit miserable. I saw the opposing team with popsicles at half time, so I rushed over to the snack shack to buy some for our girls we well. It was exactly the pick-me-up they needed!
Coach Clay and Coach Maria
Overall, Brooke enjoyed her time on the Bears again this season and wants to keep playing!
