The last few years the kids have been involved in "Pie Day" and they seriously love it. They were very involved in each and every step of the pie process and I loved documenting it all...
The first step was making the crust...
The kids loved having Emery involved this year! Brooke is always obsessed with her, but Colby surprised me when he came up and asked if I thought Emery would like to help him squish out his bag of dough. He gave her sweet instructions and I loved watching her work with Colby sitting close by to help.Once those were pressed and ready to go in the fridge, the kids moved on to setting the tables...
They even made place cards next to their own for their baby dolls, haha.
Then it was time to roll out the crusts...Three generations of pie makers...
Colby was very focused on his edge crimping :)I made sure to get a picture of Grandma with each grandkid to remember this special tradition.
These two squished into the chair to read while the others were finishing their crusts. The last step was making the pie fillings...
The completed pies!! Two banana pudding, two chocolate pudding, and two pumpkin. It seemed like a lot of pie for our crew, especially since Grandma and Papa always get a huge apple pie from their old realtor, but Grandma wanted to make sure that each kid was able to make their own pie, start to finish. This is definitely a labor of love (and I honestly think that store bought pie crusts taste just as good), but the kids really love the whole process and I love the memory making. We were officially ready for Thanksgiving!!
